I always love when students have their parents come in to speak about their entrepreneurial journeys. Carrie Prowant, owner of The Fika Boutique, has been a hair stylist for 25+ years. Her passion began in education at a young age, where she began working with deaf and hard of hearing children. Carrie discussed the importance of contingency plans and having a predicted stream of income, so she went to cosmetology school at night and transitioned into what is now her current career. Because she is passionate about hair loss/thinning hair, she is one of very few people in the US to get her tricology certification, where she can partner with dermatologists and consult specifically on hair integrity. She is the true definition of “life is no laser beam” that Craig Lindvahl discusses in his book, as her journey has had a lot of ups and downs. Her biggest advice to the class was to only attach yourself to the outcome, how you get there may need to change. Stay engaged, and find people to support you. And if something isn’t working, dump it.

Thank you Carrie for joining us! The class really enjoyed having you.
