My Featured Journal Entries
I’ve got to say, helping cook breakfast for the class has been one of my most favorite things that I’ve done in this class. There’s something so satisfying about making your own food for not only yourself, but for other people. I don’t know a whole lot about cooking, but what I do know how to make, I can make well.
I also really enjoyed ironing out the final details of my business. As I analyzed pricing and expenses, I realized that the prices were going to have to be set quite high. However, as Jerry pointed out in my business plan meeting, the quality of the product that I am selling is very high so I have the ability to set a price that is high. I also realized just how much money my dad has been giving away all these years. We’ve made over 60 buckboard benches for charity, with each one costing almost $100 in materials. On top of that, we’ve made so, so many other items for charity. Looking at the numbers has allowed me to put in perspective just how generous my dad is, not only with money, but with time. He’s put hundreds upon hundreds of hours into these projects. His reason? He just likes making things out of wood, and giving back, which is a pretty powerful philosophy.
