Tour days are often my favorite, and not just because of the food and
gifts that the speakers provide us. Tour days are really just
interesting and I find myself learning something new, every. single.
time. I think that Halo Branded Solutions has been one of my favorite
tours so far because of how informtion packed it was. The concpet that
really clicked into my head was about private equity companies. I
really found the analogy between flipping houses and priviate equity
companies flipping businesses to be really helpful, especially when
speaking about a tough concept. Also, I noted how they said it was
very necessary to be kind to everyone, and even though you might be
taking someone out of a job, you can still handle the situation with
kindness and try to make it the best experience for them as possible.
This is especially important when trying to keep/build a positive and
friendly reputation in the busienss world. Lastly, they said that
their sales people are really their customers. I had never really
thought about it that way but it really is true. Sales people can give
orders to whomever they wish, so it is extremely important to keep a
good relationship with all of your sales people and it is also
imperative to make it easy for them to work with you.

This week I learned that I like books. My whole life I have thought that I hated reading, maybe because it was forced on me in school but because of me reading one for our book talk, I have come to see that it is something I enjoy. Lately I have been reading in my free time rather than going on my phone or laptop to find something to do. Many people have seen me reading and asked, why are you reading that? I have gained a lot of insight into finance through my book and can't wait to give my book talk.

"When we toured Sauk Valley Container I made a connection that is most definitely considered as “out of the box thinking.” When Lynn took us into the production site of the boxes the first thing that I saw was a machine that stacked boxes quite quickly. When I was watching the boxes stack it didn't seem like it added much to the pile, but when I looked away and later looked back, he stack moved up quite a bit. I connected this to the fact that as you're going through life you don't realize the little steps that you take, whether they be mistakes or positive forward movements, don't seem like much as you're going on with your life. But, when you step back and look at your life and how it was a week, month, or even years ago you will see many changes. This really registered with me because even though I don't think the small choices that I make on a daily basis really affect me, they, as a matter of fact, do. Realizing this I will now be more conscious of the choices that I make and where it will set me up to be in the future."
