Two back to back days with business owner and city councilman Mike Venier. Tuesday we had the opportunity to visit Venier Jewelers Inc. and listen to Mike discuss the importance of customer service, simple gestures such as please and thank you, and simply being kind and doing good work, along with the revitalization of Dixon’s downtown.

Today we were able to spend time with Mike in a different setting along with the Sauk Valley Leadership group. Mike explained the transformation of city government over the past 10 years. “Consolidation” was the key word for how leadership solved the problem of the city duplicating duties and working in silos. The municipality also understands the importance on being regionally focused as well.

Thank you to Mike Venier as well as Fire Chief Ryan Buskohl for the wonderful lesson today.
