WACC CEO West Class commenced with a celebration on Friday, May 13. Each student shared their call to action based on the things they learned throughout the year and most recently in the Leadership Series. After all, if you don't take time to reflect on where you've been and where you're going, what's the point of all those lessons? Nik Jakobs presented Edith Jakobs Education Scholarships to Izaac Toms-Smith and Molly Riffle. Eric Epps, on behalf of Blackhawk Hills Regional Council, presented a scholarship to Megli Aerial Photography for outstanding trade show booth. Also recognized, Braeden Ruiz Bussen Cookies and Megli Aerial Photography, receiving pitch scholarships, and Tate Downs, as our only National Pitch Contest entry. Students zeroed in on three traits they felt most important in leadership and through peer voting selected Grant Koerner-Trust, Izaac Toms-Smith-Influence, and Lily Smith-Empathy and Compassion. As always, we would not have had the fabulous year that we did without the support of area businesses. We also greatly appreciate support from the Whiteside Area Career Center (Cece and Dawn!) and CEO Board Members. Parents and families, thank you for allowing me to spend time with your children; they're the best!
