Wednesday's CEO visit ended with students taking the seats designated for Sterling's aldermen and mayor. Don't they look official? Maybe a forecast of their futures in respective communities? Mayor Diana Merdian, Scott Shumard, City Manager, and Cindy Von Holten, Financial Director hosted the CEO class, emphasizing the importance of becoming involved and staying informed. They talked about their role to listen, learn, gain trust, and foster new ideas. As potential business owners, students learned A LOT about regulations, laws, requirements, zoning, plan approvals; many of which come from the state and federal levels in addition to local. (Note the stack of books in photo 1 with such information!) A special shout out to Deb Dillow who has lined up this tour year after year, as well as provided morning refreshments that were "the best spread ever," as mentioned by students.
