West students visited the Sauk Valley Food Bank, learning about the logistics of buying, receiving, storing, moving, and giving of well over 2 million pounds of food this past year. Pam Martinez, Executive Director, explained all the tasks from writing grants, securing volunteers, operating fork lifts, and even cleaning the facility. The bank supplies micro, mini, and regular food pantries in 7 counties. How ironic that the East CEO class received and stocked food from the Food Bank today in Lee County! The number of families in need of healthy food is staggering; what a tremendous resource right here in the Sauk Valley!
