Being the first ever team to make it to State is a huge honor and I still can not believe that we did it. I relate this moment to CEO class, remember when we took a etiquette class from you? Well we all got dressed up in a shirt and tie and went to a banquet that the IHSA hosted for all of the players that made it to state. Now there were rules when we walked in the banquet hall, we had to sit with 7 other players from all the teams there. Now I took advantage of this because I am in CEO and know how to talk to people. I did most of the talking and I tell you what the awkward silence works when you feel like you talk to much. Then when we got to the main meal people were using the wrong fork and not knowing what the little plate was in the middle with a tiny knife. They did put out cake before hand for dessert and some kids ate the cake before everything else. Funny thing is since I did all the talking everyone kind of copied me in what utensil I used when. LOL CEO has taught me so well. As a Team Captain getting third place was well earned and although some people might look past taking third we at least get to say our last game was a win. At the beginning of the season we had a captains meeting and we asked each other what we thought the season would look like. Our first words were at least win and regional. Now as a team we would not try to look past one game at a time and we would say everytime we got out of the bus that this is a business trip be back soon. How funny is that, as a team we still use business terminology.
When I was at the banquet I did receive a phone call from Isaac and he was screaming excited about how many people were at the event. I heard that it was a huge success and everyone loved it. Again I apologize for not going because of State but I was able to be apart of two successes not just one.

As I was sitting in the deer stand this weekend I had a lot of time to think about CEO and what we have learned that is affecting our world around us. This week Hannah W. brought up the internet and it becoming a monopoly. As I sit and listen to the quiet sound of the trees swaying back and forth, I thought about other things that could become a monopoly. Phones, our cellular devices. These are one step away from one of the major cellular carriers from buying each other out. If one group found a technological breakthrough with our phones can control almost everything in our lives. Our phones already can control our Tvs our cars and our lights in our houses. This is going to become scary because now I would not have to have a key to my house anymore or when my car starts just because my phone is with me. This is going to explode I thought and I have not worked out details yet but have a gut feeling that this won’t be good.
Also, when I was alone hunting this weekend, I brought myself the conclusion that I like to get away sometimes. Although I might have papers to type and math problems to do. I think that we do not take enough time out of our day and just relax. How many people do we know that are just run, run, run and no down time. As a young adult it is non stop for me from start of school, till the end of practices. It is nice in life when I can take a step back and sit with my family or go out in nature for once. I think society takes the real aspects out of our lives when our grandparents built us up on that family is everything. Now, I can go weeks without seeing my grandparents and that really hurts me because it is not like they will be here forever and I hate that I am so busy all the time that I can not see them.
Finally I am also glad that CEO brings kids together from all over the Sauk Valley area and this makes me happy cause I meet kids that I would never talk to. This also gives us another chance to socialize with kids that brightest of our classes. We bring so many different traits to the table and this is what CEO is all about. Our class allows us to use our differences and create something unique for our community. I am so glad that I get to take a step back and be away from what society thinks the norms are.

This past week I have been thinking a lot of what it meant to me to be the Project Manager of the Chili Cook-off. I know that it makes me smile to see all things come together, when I was assigned a task last weekend. This Cook-off also made me see what everyone brings to the table for CEO. Let me start with Mitchell. I named Mitchell head chef last weekend and even though Kade was jealous, I was confident that Mitchell would get the job done. I see Mitchell in the CEO class as our engineer; he is able to look at a situation and figure out what needs to be done to make it work. The next person that made me think a little bit is German. I did not know all week that he was coming to the Chili Cook-off until the Friday. That Saturday, he brought a zero gravity chair, and he also brought doughnuts for the whole group. I would think of German as the caregiver of the group; he went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. Then my mind thinks of Kade. Kade gave us many good laughs on Saturday. He wore an American cowboy hat that did not go with the theme, but it was funny. He also had a dance competition with me as well and a singing one. He is the entertainer of our group; he made sure that everyone was having a good time. Then I think of Kallie. She is the one that made sure that we had everything done. She is the person that made others stick to the task at hand and she was the one who made the tent look nice. She is not afraid to tell her opinion. “ Do not do that Gehrig, you look ridiculous.” This comment just made me smile because yes I did know that I am not a good dancer and she made the most out of it. The last person that came to the Chili Cook-off was Hannah McCarty. Hannah brought a tarp for us because it was raining. She is a good problem solver. We made the best of it with the rain.
I want to thank the girls, Anastasia and Hannah Wilson for making the awesome posters that endured all the rain and wind. I want to thank the group that attended the awesome community Chili Cook Off. I could not ask for a better group. I thought our group had a grand time and the only thing I could have asked for that would be different, would be if everyone else could have participated. It would have added to the fun and I really enjoy everyone in CEO. There is not one person that does not bring something to the table for our CEO class and even though we were just a few of the classmates that were available, we learned a lot and had the best of times.
