Astec Mobile Screens is a subsidiary of Astec Industries and manufactures processing equipment for the recycling and crushing of stone, sand, and gravel. The vibrating screens separate materials into a variety of sizes and are used in quarries and mining companies. CEO students got to see firsthand the large equipment that is created from beginning to finish right here in Sterling and shipped nationwide and globally. The large and very heavy pieces of steel require overhead cranes for lifting and also in order to follow OSHA regulations. Safety is priority with the local team getting very close to breaking their record of 958 days incident reporting free. Safety requirements also meant that CEO students donned special shoes, ear protection, vests, and safety glasses. We greatly appreciate the team of Rhonda, Chad, Kelly, Claudia, and Bruce for taking time with us and especially the extra trouble of preparing a crusher for students to try their hand at operating remotely!
