I’m starting to have the problems that Dennis Electric has had in the past with a lot of business growth and expansion, which made what they were saying even more relevant. There were two things that stuck out to me the most while at Dennis Electric. The first being that he had to hire an office manager in order to keep up with jobs. I am having the same problem with my business where I spend so much time just doing the billing and the paperwork where I could have a professional do it and I could spend more time focusing on sales.
The efficiency factor also stuck out to me as well, as I have worked on job efficiency, but I have never had a way to track it. What they do would work perfectly.

There were lots of great things that happened this week, but personally, I liked Verifacts as my favorite tour. I know what collection agencies are and what they do, but I never wondered where they got their information from. I just assumed that they did it themselves.
Now knowing the process that Verifacts goes through, it makes sense that most companies would outsource it to a company that specializes in location information, as that is the only thing Verifacts does. I also liked the security and IT infrastructure they had. Andrew and the other Network Admin certainly know what they are doing when it comes to protecting data from hackers, employees, and natural disasters.

This week, I learned a lot from both speakers we had. It was nice to go into more detail in the business plan with Mr. Buchen. But what stood out the most from Mr. Buchen was the idea of economic gardening. I absolutely love the thought of having a public place where all sorts of people can bring their ideas and meet with other people like them. It’s great how these sort of communities have a ton of tools and machinery to bring almost any entrepreneurial idea to life. I don’t know if the demand in our area is big enough to support one, but I definitely want to go visit one sometime.

I am very excited to work with Mr. Downs as my mentor. I was looking for someone to help with my marketing and stuff, but now I feel like a banker is more what I need right now at the moment, as my jobs keep getting bigger and cash flow will take a hit in a few days when I officially close on my store. He can help me figure out the best way to keep cash coming in or the best way to borrow if necessary. I can’t wait to pick his brain.
