When being in CEO, there are always people that are paying attention to how you act. Thankfully, as a class, the community sees us acting in a positive manner and at our best behavior. Though when leaving class that becomes much more difficult and I don't usually think of the way I present CEO outside of my business attire. This week someone I know was in trouble for using inappropriate language and action. In my opinion, it was blown out of proportion, but the point of this is that this person, in their position, didn't ever think someone would rat them out. You never know who is watching your every move and even if you are confident in the group of people you are with, it only takes one wrong move to make a big problem. This made me thing of class because I am always all over the place with sports and other hobbies, which places me around all kinds of people. Someone is bound to know me from class and like the other incident, it only takes one small mix up to make the class look bad. I will likely be more alert when acting out in public or watching what I say and where I say it. CEO will help me in improving my actions around others and possibly even those of my friends when they are with me.

On Saturday, I helped Fatih deliver the gifts and food to the two families we were assigned to and I am glad that I volunteered to help. To start the day, our communication was all over the place and I was worried that we were going to disappoint Russ and Carol. I admire those two so much because they both have the biggest hearts around and would do anything for anyone. They do so much for this community and at times I feel it goes very unrecognized. When we got the times switched I felt as if we might disappoint them because I don’t like to be late, but once we got there Russ was very understanding and admitted that he miscommunicated. That was a relief because I want to impress those two especially when presenting CEO. After we picked up the food, we went to the families and I noticed as we took the last of the boxes of food and gifts that they were both amazed at how much they were given. This really impacted me because I have been blessed to have the homelife that I do and I tend to ignore the amount families that are suffering through tough times in our community. We do something similar to this for our church every year, but have never delivered the gifts we buy before. That made the whole difference because the giving the gifts is one thing, but seeing the impact of your donation shows the true reasons why we did it. The last mother we took the gifts to gave the best reaction to our gifts. Her eyes grew open so wide and she could not believe the amount of things we had given them. I am glad our class volunteered to such a great thing for the holidays and will be more than happy to talk about it at class this week.

Watching the TED talk about the golden circle made me think of how CEO compares to a regular classroom. All of the kids that have been given the chance to take part in the class have said that is so much better and they learn more than in their own school. That to me has to deal with the golden circle and whether or not us students are looking at the "what" or the "why." In CEO, we are around passionate people who are very involved and love the environment we have to offer. That stands out as a why factor in CEO. We meet everyday and look forward to working because we know WHY we are doing it and then WHAT we are expecting in return. This relates to school because almost every student is sitting through class and they don’t know WHY they are in class. They only know WHAT they are told to learn and say. In CEO, we knew beforehand exactly WHY we chose to be in the class, WHAT we had to do would come second once we started the year. After being involved with CEO, it is obvious that our school classroom doesn’t offer a WHY and that does not motivate us students to learn.
